Cristina Martins is a The Hague based artist and makes these wonderful big drawings of girls and females. The drawings are made with pencil and I was lucky to witness her process from up close. The drawings reminds me of all the different stages a girl goes through her life. From girl to woman, from bride to old woman. The details, patience and concentration are fantastic!

A teacher once told me: “From black and white drawings you can really pick the real colourist” and “colourist” in this sentence doesn’t mean the person responsible for adding colour to comic book-drawings, but a person with a great sense for colour and beauty. I guess this remark truly applies to Shelley Reed. Normally I don’t look twice at artworks without colours (yessssssss, I’m a bad artlover…so sue me) but Shelley Reeds works really caught my eye. Although I never saw her art in real (only online) I guess you will easily get lost in her art.

His artworks are big costumes/ installations were glitter, glamour, Haitian flags, Asian embroidery, flowers and voodoo comes together. In his works he explorers transformation, identity, rituals and myths.
